Once Upon Us is a small, independent product. This page explains what we collect, why, and how long we keep it.
What we collect
The two photos you upload, the names and dates you enter, the letter and captions you write, any wish left by your gift's recipient, and, once you purchase, the email address Gumroad shares with us for your order.
How it's used
Solely to generate and deliver your gift: painting the portraits and scenes, publishing your gift page, and sending you the recipient's wish. We don't use your photos or words for anything else.
How long we keep it
Your source photos are automatically deleted 14 days after your gift is published. If a draft is never paid for, it's wiped after 30 days. The generated artwork is kept as part of your gift for as long as the gift page exists. A wish is visible only to the gift's creator; never to anyone else, and never to the recipient who wrote it.
Who we share it with
We use a small set of processors to run the service: fal.ai (image generation), OpenRouter and Google (automated likeness scoring of portraits), Convex (application data), Vercel (hosting), Gumroad (payments), and Resend (email delivery). Each only sees what it needs to do its job. We don't run ads, and we don't sell your data, to anyone, ever.
Your choices
Want your photos, gift, or wishes deleted sooner? Email us and we'll take care of it. Once Upon Us is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
